I've looked in all the usual places online and couldn't find it.

What font is this?

Not exactly the same but ... http://www.letterheadfonts.com/fonts/flashscript.php By the way, Letterhead Fonts has some of the best stuff in the business.

I don't know why everyone automatically assumes type is font based. :dunno:

DRR wrote:Ha! That was the first thing I that I thought of too. But then I'm not sure you'd even need both hands to count how many people here have ever seen a sign painter or calligrapher ply their trade. Yes Virginia, even today, some lettering is done by hand (Even if it eventually ends up digitized and grist for some type of computer aided manufacturing or other output).

My first thought was also that it was done by a sign fabrication shop but the question was what font was used, hence my answer. This is after all primarily a computer forum!

I had a friend whose hobby was calligraphy, so have seen that. And I can say I have seen lettering done by a skilled painter. About 30 years ago the bus service I drove for had a damaged bus that needed numbering and other information redone and the stencils were no longer able to be found. After doing the bodywork and basic repainting, they called in a guy from another department on campus. He hand lettered everything, it was almost indistinguishable from the original work on other buses. Probably retired by now.

It's not a font. It's a third- or fourth-hand reproduction of something originally done by hand, probably by a signpainter for the original location. Notice the overly thick top of the e, and how the loop on the y descender doesn't have quite the right curve.
If you need to reproduce it, eight minutes with Illustrator will give you vector artwork much faster than searching a kazillion fonts online.

Thanks everyone. I don't need to reproduce it but was just curious. I drive by this shop everyday in my neighborhood and the whole store is a throwback to the sixties. I just liked the letterforms and was maybe wanting it for a job at some point.
