It appears Tropical Storm Lee in the Gulf of Mexico might affect regional weather patterns such that Katia, which was supposed to recurve away from the U.S., might now instead run up the east coast.

We are supposed to get a good drenching here in the Atlanta area, starting Sunday and going well into next week, from Lee. We can use the rain, but I hope we don't get any flooding. They are saying 4-8", I think, for our area. Hopefully it won't be more than that.

Rhonda, they're forecasting 10-20" rain here. ::o
At least it's just rain and some wind, and not Irene-esque.

That much rain in Atlanta in a short period of time will cause problems. I hope we get a little less than projected.
Peter, Louisiana had been in a drought, and you will see flooding , with that much rain. Keep your car and self on higher ground.

deco, yes, they are predicting street flooding, but where I live is not flood-prone. Unfortunately, the drainage is such that it's likely that my workplace will be flooded, and I may need to go in there to check on things over the weekend... ugh.

The lousy thing in all this is that TX could've really used some of it. And for awhile it really looked like TX was gonna get some relief....

Here in NC where we're at I would have to add it up but I think
we're some where around 10" below normal for the year in rainfall. ![]()

We really don't need more in the Northeast. There are towns in Vermont which are still cut off from the rest of the world because of Irene.
