Anyone seen a good deal on this printer?

Brother HL-4040CDN: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-HL-4040cdn..._1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315091848&sr=8-1

(that's hardly a good deal on this printer, and I'm not sure why it doesn't have that good reviews at Amazon, I've bought one of these before, and they're really pretty good...)

According to that Amazon page, it looks like it's been discontinued and replaced with the HL-4150cdn, which might be why good deals are hard to find.

which features are you after?

We bought the Epson WorkForce 840 for around $200 I think and it's a really great printer.

Looking for color laser with duplexing. The reason I'm after that particular model is that we also already have the non-duplex version, and they take the same cartridges and supplies-- whereas the newer HL-4150CDN that GGD linked to, obviously doesn't.

OT: We could have got the 840 for $130 or the Artisan 835 for $130, we chose the Artisan. My wife was
wanting something to print occasional photos at good quality. It prints best quality settings 4x6" in
under 10 seconds and they are amazing. Officemax had both on sale and then a $50 trade-in for any
printer so we took any older but still working Epson that my oldest son used at college and traded it in.
Bad thing about the Artisan is the black cartridges are small, it actually came with 2 blacks and 6 different colors.

Peter,

My office had the non-duplexing version of the printer. The performance and reliability is one of the reasons I won't purchase another printer from Brother. Print quality was good for a while but by the time I stopped using it dropped to mediocre at best. The printer uses color toner even when set to black and white only mode. The cartridges have a habit of leaking. The cost of replacement toner is outrageous, especially since it requires new color toner cartridges even though we produced very little actual color output. That's a scam, IMO. We still have the printer at my office in our warehouse. It's collecting dust despite it being a fully functional printer because we refuse to put another dollar into it. We spent the $$$ that would've been used towards toner for the Brother on a little black and white network laser from HP and a cheap color inkjet all-in-one as a replacement for it and haven't looked back.
