LOL!
I should have bought "12 Angry Men". It would be an inspiration during the deliberation.

No, kidding. Neither of my part-time employers are paying. And to hell with financial hardship ... the court is no longer excusing that lame excuse! Just curious, are the homeless, mildly mentally unstable and such recruited for jury duty at all?

Where would the homeless receive the mail summons for jury duty? And mildly handicapped people (including mentally) get summonses like the rest of us and need to demonstrate their incapability to serve just like the rest of us.

escaping jury duty isn't a good enough reason to join the ranks of the homeless and/or unstable.
course if you're looking for any excuse I guess it's as good as any .....

Not escaping. Just wish that there would be a better way to involve the citizens into serving their civic duty. Which one would be more enticing: given $15 per day for judicial duty or making $100 for half a day? For a person who lives pay check by pay check I believe the latter would make more sense.
