Got the PM. I'll be taking a break for a few hours, myself after this...
For the record, you're running 10.6.8 and connecting via Ethernet. There is an indication that you may have a DNS problem.
The settings are a bit different for 10.6.8 and now that I see what your present settings are, I think you ought to add some of the Cox California DNS servers to the list as well.
Put these server addresses in the list, replacing the address that's there now. I've included more detailed instructions in my reply to your PM.
