Transmission/BitTorrent Question

I occasionally use Transmission to find an oddball file. My kid also uses it to transfer large audio and video files to/from his bandmates. I don't use BitTorrent to steal content. Seriously.

Anyway, something has changed recently. In the past, Little Snitch would ask for permission to allow one connection to a tracker (whatever a tracker is), I'd say yes, and it would be off to the races. Now, Snitch asks for dozens of connections before any transfers can happen.

Anyone know why I suddenly need to allow multiple connections? Did the infrastructure of the BitTorrent system change? Did Transmission change? Did my ISP change something?

Trasmission would ask for a single connection for me as well then start doing its thing. A few weeks ago it stopped working completely. It was communicating with the outside world but downloaded nothing.

I started using uTorrent & never looked back. The interface is different, but it works well for what I need it for. Give it a try.

Can you find the file on Usenet? There are some binaries groups that are very active, and haven't been overrun by spammers.

I believe some "Safari Web Content" requests were eliminated by getting the newest Little Snitch. Might give that a try just to eliminate that possibility. LyleH

Really? Which ones? I've been on Usenet on a consistent basis for almost 15 years and have never seen the amount of spam like it is now. Thank god for kill files.
