I hope that I'd simply be straightforward and polite. The humor/compliment is always a good tactic.

But the idea that this could be a harassment issue - the thought makes me very sad!

You simply tell her that YOU have a problem and you are seeking her assistance. Mention your asthma and ask if she could change to something else for the duration of her assignment.

Does your wife have some perfumes that don't bother you, that you could offer as suggestions?

Remember to thank her profusely for listening and hopefully abating YOUR problem.
