not the best analogy.
shovels don't require a contract and montly data plan. imagine if you had to buy a Verizon shovel, but you couldn't get a new one until your old one was 18 or 24 months old? crazy.

But contract makes my question even more relevant. The sales must be to new owners then. As for shovels, I think the explanation is that most people fall for $5 shovels at ACME that breaks with first use.

I think the inner Apple child was disappointed in that fact that there was no new form factor and that there wasn't a new screen.
Realistically though, it is like a car company that keeps the same sheet metal, but drops in an engine with more horsepower, but better MPG, improves the tranny from a 4 speed auto to an 8 speed, replaces the plasticky dash with a soft touch version with stitching and realistic wood paneling and so on.... When my contract expires in December, I plan on getting the 4S myself.

This will never happen again. They will move directly from 4S to 6 so the emperor can receive adequate compliments on his attire.

Shocking news! New Apple phone still does not support 4G! :yawn:
It is a huge upgrade in the power of the CPU and GPU, and should be good for another 3 years. On the plus side, users will be less likely to unknowingly run over their data cap since it is not 4G.

Being satisfied with your partners inadequacies is good way to be happy.
I'm happy it has a puny screen... I'm glad it doesn't blaze on 4G... that way my battery lasts longer (that they won't even let me change - I'm glad they won't let me change it). I better not hear one disappointed peep when the 5 drops and renders the 4S to the technological dustbin within months of today and they have to wait a year and a half to upgrade.
