Sir Paul gets married again
#11
No one with any sense has ever claimed McCartney was irrelevant, or indeed that he was anything less than supremely talented as a musician. Nor would any thoughtful person deny that he loved Lennon like a brother.

But siblings can harbor great resentment for one another, and McCartney certainly resented (and envied) Lennon's role as leader of the gang. Read the Barry Miles book in which McCartney actively participated, read the addendum in the Hunter Davies official biography of the Beatles, watch the "Beatles Anthology" videos and see McCartney's disingenuous comments when subjects like "Magical Mystery Tour" and Lennon's writing of "All You Need is Love" come up.

BTW, John, George and Ringo hated "Ob-La- Di, Ob-La-Da" because they were sick of working on take after take of it. (McCartney's "perfectionism" seemed to concentrate on his own songs the most.) Finally, one day Lennon stormed into the studio and pounded out a new intro to the song on the piano, declaring that this was how it was going to be. It was not done out of fun, it was done out of frustration.
