Better Mac app for Reminders and Lists than iCal?

I really like the Reminders app for my iPhone. I like the way its lists and reminders are available system wide, on Macs, iPads, etc. Unfortunately, using iCal on my Mac as an interface to the reminders and lists functions is beyond clunky.

Can anyone recommend a better Mac app for setting up and reviewing system-wide reminders and lists? I like the simplicity of something like Wunderlist, but it doesn't talk to Lion's built-in system.

I've tried doing searches, but it's often hard to tell whether the latest flashy application ties into the Lion//iPhone/iCal system, or uses its own.

I'm guessing some forum users might have a suggestion or two?

I searched for years to replace my Palm calendar, and have ended up with BusyCal.

I'm beginning to warm up to it after a few months.

I'd be happy with a bigger-screen version of the iPhone Reminders app, which is deceptively simple looking for its power.
