8 AA batteries in the Taser! That's 12V and a good deal more potential energy than two AAs contain. And I've dropped enough metal wrenches on car batteries to know that interesting things can happen with that many volts... times the amps which are available in the many pounds of lead acid technology of a car battery.

My favorite pocket light normally takes a single-CR123a, but can also take a 3.6V CR123a-sized rechrgeable (so I use the latter)

Leave it on high for awhile and it doubles as a hand-warmer.
