What was the "upgrade?"

speed bump from 2.8 to 3.2GHz on the quad core...?
Was that it? Is there no chance of a new form factor soon?
"Soon" is relative, just like patience, grasshopper. Best rumors suggest next year, as the year of the redesigned Mac Pro.

Frankly, throw in a couple of TB ports, USB3 ports, and a current top line video card, and they can keep the form factor for another ten years. Sure, they could carve a couple of inches out of it, but after the G5's and MP's, I'm pretty well used to it... especially the MP's easy peasy access. IIABDFWI.

But I don't want an iMac. I want a Mac that can hold a bunch of speedy drives -- and lets me easily swap them around -- and has expansion slots for upgrading the video or adding ports when I need 'em. If I got an iMac, I'd have a mess of cables, adapters and drive-enclosures smothering my desk and I'd have to take the d@mned glass off just to swap the boot drive. Blah!

getting the glass off is the EASY part, like 5 seconds. its getting to the rest of it thats really impossible.

try this on for size: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nOf0svk5FdY

Hardware - nothing in the least.

iOS 6 would be nice since I'm stuck at 3.1 on a JB original iPhone. But my prepaid t-moble runs me around $7/month and I can't justify even the basic plans. So I'll live.

Lately, I've been pissed off at Apple.

First off...no support for my Mac Pro gen 1 in Mountain Lion even though they will support newer computers with slower C2D processors.

You might be thinking that a Mac Pro gen 1 is at least 5-6 years old. Isn't it time to upgrade? To what? If I'm going to spend good money on a newer Mac Pro...I would like something that is at least current hardware. Not 2 years old.

And now they are saying that there will be a new model next year. Maybe.

My next Mac will be a hackintosh.

exactly!

I'm disappointed with the MBP's removal of the optical drive. I like having it for various reasons and I simply don't trust the Cloud let alone having to have a fast internet connection not only at home and/or office but anywhere I would want to download something.
I am fine with my iMac with 3.6 i5 with 16 GB RAM and my 15" MBP 2.53 C2D.

Nothing of interest for me, I have 0 interest in laptops but I will be moving to the new iPhone whenever it shows up.

I do a lot of Photoshop crunching and I need no more speed. Everything I work on is fast, fast, fast...

There's a specific reason why I mentioned the glass in particular.

Getting the guts out of the iMac and putting them back is not hard for me.

Putting the glass back without trapping dust and cat hair under the screen would be pretty close to impossible in my apartment.
