No.

Apple prefers to make closed systems and this runs counter to that. I dislike this type of argument, about the "walled garden" and all that crap, but it is true to some extent and is at odds with an interchangeable lens system.

OTOH, patenting a system and licensing it out to someone else is not a bad way to keep the $£€ coming in!

It could just be something along the lines of lenses you can purchase for Flip Cameras: http://www.amazon.com/Bower-VLMWF-0-45x-..._1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339796821&sr=8-1&keywords=flip+camera+wide+angle+lens

I have one of those and it works great. Apple might have an outer ridge, like the Flip, but with a metal eyelet that will easily allow magnetic add-on's like this. For the Flip lenses, they come with a circle/metal ring that has adhesive on the back and you stick in on the device - it surrounds the built-in lens and then you just attach your other lenses to it with the magnetic bottom. Simple, it looks good without the lens on, and super-quick to put on and remove.

There are even some like this for iPhones anyhow: http://www.amazon.com/Olloclip-Quick-Con..._3?ie=UTF8&qid=1339796821&sr=8-3&keywords=flip+camera+wide+angle+lens
