If all else fails: go to the keyboard control panel in System Prefs and check "Show Keyboard & Character Viewer in menu bar". You can access that whenever you are hunting for something arcane, and insert by double clicking on the character you want. It'll be inserted where you left the cursor in the text. It would be a lot more useful if it would also tell you the keystrokes used to type the characters.
