Everything I've read says Crucial.

I think you'll find praise and criticism for both...and for the Samsung 830 as well Smile

I just picked up a SanDisk Extreme 480GB SSD for $348 a couple of weeks ago.

Everything I've read says SanDisk is faster. Their reliability hasn't been as proven given the Extreme is newer on the market.

Then again, SanDisk uses their own flash memory and those of us who rely on their CF and SD technology have little to complain about in the reliability dept.

I thought the SandForce controller was better for a Mac. The M4 is Marvel based and the Sandisk is SandForce.

I read that Marvel does its own data management, does not need TRIM support. this is for a Windows 7 laptop, am not sure yet how Win7 handles SSD, if I need to anble TRIM or if I let the controller do its own thing.

I think I will end up flipping a coin at the end if the day when i need to palce order Smile

My Sandisk Extremes have been great. I don't recall coming across anything suggesting they had reliability problems.

I've got a SanDisk Extreme and a Crucial M4 and both work very well.

Even the OCZ Vertex 2 that I'm using right now works really well.

At this point, I'd say go for the best deal.

If there's a speed difference between the Extreme and the M4, you'll need benchmark apps to find it.

And if I need an app to tell me one is faster than the other, then they're the same as far as I'm concerned.

No doubt somebody somewhere has something bad to say about either of your choices, but really, I don't have any idea what that could be.
