That was some political prognostication. Not the wholesale "It's over! We're screwed!" as displayed on places like this very forum.

Most of the polls to-date have been skewed. Most have been based on the 2008 models and heavily weighted in favor of Dems. Follow thee money. These polling companies are in business to make lots of money. As the election draws near it is in their interest to project more accurate numbers in order to maintain their credibility. It doesn't do their reputation any good if their final projections are way off base.

And the media are in this to make money. They want to keep people interested so that they can sell more advertising. Therefore they make up or run with stories that are really nothing (look in this forum for half a dozen examples of non-stories) just to keep us coming back. And like crazed little consumer-dolls, we do.

Some of the pro-Romney polling is a result of switching from registered voter polling to likely voter polling, which is always what is done closer to the election and is a direct measure of voter enthusiasm. The GOP has a slight edge on enthusiasm right now, thanks in part to their improved get-out-the-vote operations. Don't get overconfident though, Dems are equally strong if not stronger at that in the swing states.
None of that makes the earlier polls "skewed." Read the fine print of the polls.
