Jabber Client for iOS/Android

My business partner and I need to communicate quite a bit, but he can't afford a large text package. Mine is paid for by my employer and I have unlimited texts, so it isn't an issue for me. I'm working on setting up our website with Dreamhost and they offer Jabber as an option, apparently for free. It occurred to me that this might be a good way for us to stay in touch without using texts. He has an Android phone so I'll probably need to find a Jabber client for Android as well.

Can anyone suggest a Jabber client for iOS and/or Android?

Not sure about a Jabber client, but I can recommend Whatsapp to "txt" cross-platform to Android.

Believe it is free on Android (ads), 0.99 on iOS.
