Why does Outlook suck so much?

If it's a Microsoft mail product running on a Mac it's not the real Outlook.
Unless it's in a virtual environment running on a Windows session. Or maybe via CodeWeavers Crossover.

Does it matter? It's the name. Changing it doesn't make it suck less.

Complaining about Outlook? What a bunch of whiners. Try using Lotus Notes every day. You'll be crying to go back to Outlook.

Now that's just crazy talk right there.

Outlook works very well on the PC but it sucks on the Mac as it is not the same program. It is a warmed over Entourage, renamed to make Mac people "feel better."

See? MS cares for you.

Personally, I think the PC version sucks too (though I've only used the older (circa 2003) version that runs in XP.

Entourage was a mature email client with a quirky interface.

Outlook is a whole new beastie.

If MS improves it at the same pace as they did with Entourage then we can reasonably expect Outlook to be a useful, stable and friendly product by 2020.

Here's a different, but related Outlook 2011 question:

In Outlook (PC), I can view Calendar items and sort by size, thereby finding large attachments easily. This is great for pruning my Exchange mailbox.

I can't figure out any way to do this (or even sort by "with attachments") in Outlook (or Mail, for that matter).

Here is an answer from a Microsoft Support Engineer:

"Outlook 2011 does not support attaching items to calendar appointments. Hence the calendar entries will not contain any attachments in them for us to search and delete it.

Attachments are only part of emails. To view them click to select the folder. Click on the View tab, go to Arrange By and click to select Attachments."

This makes no sense to me - I receive meetings with attachments, and I can send attachments as part of a meeting, also.

Any suggestions?

The "Microsoft Support Engineer" is wrong. Outlook 2011 does support attaching items to calendar appointments.
