FREE Movie Tickets for "World Trade Center"
#11
MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS
465 HUNTINGTON AVE
BOSTON, MA 02115

... not bad. Boston-area people, take note.

On the political (or not political) aspects, take a look at the other side-- I had already started a thread about it.

Saw the movie for free, I will pay to see it again.
BGnR... Was it good then?

Incredible, didn't think I could see it all over again, it is actually a story about two people, and their families. They don't show the footage that has been run over, and over. This is a personal level movie.
I don't care who you are, you will cry.
It will make you call your relatives and tell them that you love them, it will make you hug your kids, and spouse every morning. It will make you contemplate things such as, "What if this is the last moment I spend with my family?"

I'm going to wait for the DVD.
No way I am leaving a movie theatre with tears in my eyes.
Well, unless I think it could get me laid.

Might work in SanFransisco or P-Town. :-)

Edit: Not that there's anything wrong with that.

My personal opinion only ...

No plans to see it. It's just too much like "we'll do anything ... exploit anything ... to make a buck." And as for the people who go see em ... IMHO it's like paying to see a fresh car wreck.

First of all, I don't need to be reminded of this event. I LIVED IT. Again IMO, these movies about 9/11 are ultimately part of our "it isn't real unless it's on TV" mentality, and our continuing inability to accept reality unless we can reshape it into some kind of "story" or "narrative," even if that doesn't quite match up with what actually happened. In a word, "truthiness."

Secondly, putting Hollywood stars in such a thing, and releasing it as a profit-making venture is, to me, disgusting. I'm probably the only one in the world who feels like that, but that's okay.

If you want to see a good 9/11 movie get a copy of this:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312318/

It is excellent. I found a copy at a yard sale.

"On September 11, 2001, filmmakers Jules and Gedeon Naudet were filming a
documentary on a rookie New York City firefighter when they noticed a plane
overhead. That plane would hit the World Trade Center. The firefighter and the
Naudets rushed immediately to the scene. The Naudets filmed throughout Sept. 11
and the days afterward from the firemen's perspective, as it became clear to them
that this was the only known footage from inside the Twin Towers that day."

Like many New Yorkers, I had plenty of Sept. 11 on Sept. 11. I don't have any interest at all in seeing a movie which purports to be about it.
