Just got my Craftsman 25cc Line Trimmer... Anyone use an edger attachment?
#1
After a few weeks of debate I decided to get a 2-Cycle 25cc Craftsman straight shaft Line Trimmer. Purchased it online to save an additional $5.00 and picked it up so I could get it today. Best of all, it appears that someone may have messed up at the sears warranty center. My giftcard from my warranty of my battery operated trimmer was slightly higher than it should of been.

Anyone own the Edger attachment? Ever use it around your gardens/flower beds? Usually I use a metal edger around my flower beds and it does a good job. However, the landscappers sometimes use the gas edger around my parents beds and it looks great. Just wondering if this attachment would do the job.

Stihl straight shaft trimmers take a variety of attachments, but the only one used regularly around here by the yard guys is thie pole trimmer for trees. Interchangeable heads are a selling point for straight-shaft trimmers, but I don't think they offer much real utility. Yard pros do edging with their string trimmers or with gas edgers. I use an electric B & D Edgehog; has lasted four years and I run through about a blade a year.

I use a Ryobi edger like that. Works fine. Caution though : plastic safety shield is breakable.

I use a Stihl edger on a straight shaft tool (works great .... much better than a string cutter!). I swap it back and forth with an articulated edger since the motor on the other Stihl won't start. Darn ethanol fuel. :X

YIKES!!! But "slightly" amusing. Glad your Ok. I flipped my new line trimmer and edged my walk/driveway/patio and it looks great!!! The neighbor kids, who never know when to go home, watched me trim and then I told them to "stand over there" when they were watching me edge. They looked at me like I was a jerk! Oh well... Best I take out my own eye!
