Congressman from Georgia wants poor kids who receive free meals at school to sweep the cafeteria floor. Why not just brand them all with a scarlet "P?"

Update 5 p.m.: Kingston spokesman Chris Crawford responded to the video with the following, via email:l:
"It is sad that trying to have a productive conversation about instilling a strong work ethic in the next generation of Americans so quickly devolves into the usual name calling partisan hysteria.
"Having worked from a young age himself, Congressman Kingston understands the value of hard work and the important role it plays in shaping young people."

What's wrong with a little work if you need food?

Someone in the comments section following the AJC article wrote:

Hows about raising the 'premiums' on crop insurance or raising the Federal royalties on extracted minerals to fair market values (instead of 1832 values), or upping the lease costs on Federal logging and range lands?

I guess it's just 'free lunches' he wants to target instead of 'free banquets'.

and it illustrates, perfectly, the base hypocrisy of morons of Representative Kingstons ilk. He, like far too many in the republicant party, is a heartless tone deaf ignoramus.

"[Multi-millionaire, and recipient of entitlements from the government], having worked from a young age himself [even though he grew up privileged, the son of a college professor], Congressman Kingston understands the value of hard work and the important role it plays in shaping young people."

Fixed.

'Fill--- I will diffidently point out that in that day, college professors didn't make much money. Speaking as one such... and working very HARD to raise funds to go to college. My first job as an engineer I made 20% more than my dad did. The same year. After he had been teaching as a professor of Geology for 20 years.

That is, however, the only note I'll add to this otherwise silly tale of silliness from a silly politician.
