Chat app alternatives

I am currently using Adium as my go to app for gchat and Facebook chat on my MBP. The problem is that Adium is beginning to really hog RAM and causes the whole system to slow down over time. I was wondering if anyone knew of another alternative that I could use for this since some of my work contacts use gchat and others use FB chat for communication during the day. Also, if there is anything would also pick up imessages, that would be great. Am I asking for the moon here?

iChat will do everything but Facebook and Skype I believe. Even that may be available, I haven't checked.

FYI-iChat using the Apple IDs on AIM server will stop working on 10.6 and older Mac OSXs. You can sign up at AIM.com for a new name if you need to.
