Comcast/xfinity customers - why do I get TV shows?
#1
I notice when I login on the web, and after I've downloaded their iOS App to my iPod, I can stream TV shows. Not all of them. Some of them are locked; little key icon.

But WHY do I get that? I only have INTERNET?

I've emailed and called them, but they really don't answer my question satisfactorily.

So, anyone ELSE have xfinity and get streaming tv shows online and iOS app?

Whatcha think?

Yes. I used to have only internet and noticed that. Selection was limited, but definitely there.

I believe quite a lot of NBC shows were available. Maybe some stuff from other OTA networks, except maybe not CBS.

There were also a number of "channels" or shows that seemed more like infomercials. They either wanted you to subscribe to something at the end, or buy a book. I remember watching some cooking stuff that were hosted by cookbook authors, with a "buy my book" plug at the end.

I can't check now because I switched from DirecTV to Comcast for my TV.

I tried watching some recent Warehouse 13 episodes yesterday - and noticed the key icon over all the shows. I too have Comcast Internet only, and saw a message that only Comcast TV viewers can watch these shows. I ended up buying season 5 on iTunes for $9.99.

sCumcast excels in teasing people with things they can't actually see without paying more.

But, I can see/view these. At no cost. I am only paying my $19.99 to the penny (no additional tax/charge...nuthin'!) and still get dozens of streaming shows.

Whoa! $20/month for Xfinity Internet? What kind of throughput?

That's still not a bad price given Comcast would charge me $40 for the same service.

Sometimes Comcast sets up channel availability wrong for the different plans. Usually it was related to simply not putting a filter on the TV lines when someone had a physical TV connection. Little odd Comcast can't properly configured access to the online portion of their content.
