White iBook G4 making noise. Fan?

The white iBook G4, that my grandson is using to check his Facebook page has suddenly started to make a whirring noise, that comes and goes.

Fan? or ?

Shut it down, try blowing canned air into the vent holes. It will either dislodge the dust and fix the problem, or short the computer and eliminate the problem.

It's been a while since I've played around on an iBook. Weren't you able to pull two tabs on the keyboard, remove it, and get to a quickly removable heat shield? With that shield off, you should have a reasonably clear path to blow out the fan gunk through the rear vent.
