Did anyone else get an "Account Locked" email from GoDaddy today?
#1
I got an email out of the blue from GoDaddy saying "Account locked: Action needed". It used my first/last names, and it was sent to the unique email address that I use for them, and it came from their mail server.

It did not give a reason why my account was locked, but did give me a link to click to go through the unlock process. I tried going to their site manually and logging in, and indeed my account was locked.

So I went through their unlock/password reset process which generated another email with an authorization code, and then I needed to setup a new password. I was able to log in with the new password and everything looked normal.

It looks like their password requirements have changed and my old password no longer met their requirements (it was less than 9 characters long and didn't have an Upper case letter). I also did not have a "Hint" set, and that's now a requirement.

So, I'm wondering if they're now forcing accounts to comply with their new password requirements by locking them. Did anyone else get one of these, and was your old password out of compliance?

Yes, which is what made me suspicious, but everything seemed to check out indicating that it was authentic.

I found this note on their site from 2012 indicating that they were locking accounts that didn't meet the requirements. It seems that they're a bit slow in getting through their backlog if it took them this long to get to me.

I got a domain renewal notice today this morning. I had no trouble logging in then.

I just logged in without trouble.
