Wow - just wow! Replacing an iPod touch 2nd gen battery sure looks hard!

I purchased a third party battery before I watched this guide from iFixit.

Why in the world would Apple make it so hard to replace such a likely point of failure?!

My guess is that that's a byproduct of miniaturization/thinness being the primary goal.

that's why I just went with paying Apple Store $80 for a 'new' / OLD one recently.

And that's why i hope they have a replacement program like they did for original Nanos. My 2Gen iPod Touch latest about 2 years.

I want to use it with an older 30 pin connection device. Even the Apple genuine lightning to 30 pin adapter doesn't work with the more recent iOS devices.

I'm pulling an old iPod out of the drawer.

With this kind of repair I front of me, I may just live with the 30 min battery as it'll be plugged in most of the time.

I have two second gen touches, willing to let them go cheap. Battery life isn't perfect, by should last a couple hours on either. I'd take $52 for both plus shipping. Comes with a couple skins, iPod to 30 pin cables, one brand new earphone, and a single dock insert. PM if they will work for you.

I recently replaced a digitizer and LCD display from a 32 FB touch 3rd gen. That and the 2nd gen are easier to get into the case because of the friction and clips holding it together. black is right about putting so much in a small space. 4th gen touch is a little more difficult to work on with it's glued on display and LCD/digitizer combo display. Soldering is always a biotch when dealing with smallish connectors/parts. Not looking forward to replacing the battery in the 3rd gen ipod.
