One used to be able to avoid the endless speculation, if desired, since it was confined to the tech press that deigned to cover Apple.
Now, because Apple is such a prominent company, it's found in the mainstream press as well, and harder to escape.
Then there's the post event punditry...
It's just a phone, people, and maybe a watch.

The thing about saying, "it's just a phone and maybe a watch" is that we don't know exactly *what* it will be, and Apple products have literally changed the world, so people get excited when a potential new "world changer" may be announced.
