Mac security system - how to change settings when coming / going?
#1
I have my Mac connected video cameras up and running. However, I'd like to find a convenient way to arm and disarm the system. I have no good ideas. What if I did it from my phone? What if it knew when I was home? etc...

Any advice? Ideas?

Matt,

You have to look at the software and see what options it offers you. For what it's worth, you don't have a security system. You have a surveillance system. They are entirely different beasts. Typically, surveillance systems are set it and forget it kind of systems. You put it together and view it when you're curious as to what its recording or capturing or in the event something awful happens and you hope to get information from a given recording during a period of time.

The software has a very robust set of scripting capabilities. I'm sure i could build something myself but i'm curious if anyone has come across tools that would be useful for this.

That said, i realize the way i have things set up probably isn't practical long term - getting an email every time a camera detects motion. but this is what i'm playing with at the moment. just curious where it leads.

No idea what software you're using....
If it's SecuritySpy, I'm pretty sure it has an on-time-off-time setting.
