After 7->12 Mbit/sec upgrade (CentLink), pages load slower
#1
...or so it seems to me. Yes, at Speedtest.net, I do get around 9 MBit/sec now (up from ~5 MBit/sec before), but I swear it seems to take longer for pages to load.

Or maybe it's just heavy internet traffic over this weekend. Still, it seems to me that one advantage to DSL was that you had your own bandwidth that wasn't shared - could this be different with the new service? (Still coming over the same phone line, same box- they changed the service level remotely and never set foot in the house).

What d'ya say?

Pull the power on the modem and leave it unplugged for 5 minutes.

After rebooting, give it 12 hours to sync properly with the ISP's switches before testing the speed again. Many modems need a few hours or days before they'll provide optimal speed.

a phoneline is DSL, so yeah, dedicated

Some ISPs only provide max bandwidth when customers query that site.

Try some other name servers (DNS). Google is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for a start.
