I wanted to thank everyone again for the thoughtful words, condolences, and good wishes on the death of my mother:

The small graveside service went well, under a pink dogwood on a beautiful spring day in Maryland.
My mother was not religious, but our son Nathan, who has become a rabbi (of the Messianic Jewish persuasion) suggested this, from Ecclesiastes:
There is a time for everything, for all things under the sun:
A time to be born and a time to die,
A time to laugh and a time to cry,
A time to dance and a time to mourn,
A time to forget and a time to remember.
He also offered the traditional Mourner's Kaddish, in honor of her orthodox Jewish heritage, in the Aramaic.
As for the house and property, that will have to be decided this summer. There is some sentiment for keeping it in the family, but with no one living there it would require some kind of rental or other arrangement that may not prove feasible. We'll see.

On a less consequential note, I did buy a chainsaw:

Elected this 12" battery-powered one,

following M>B>'s example. Seems adequate for my modest needs, and not too heavy for my painful elbow. Mine did not come with an extra battery, but as I will use it for short sessions, that's fine.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Someone in another thread asked about other Mac advice forums. There may be some, but I doubt if there are any with the wide-ranging interests and the long-running sense of community that we find here. It is really quite remarkable.
