Craigslist find of the day
#1
I just picked up a 2008 24" iMac, 2.8Ghz C2D for $200. On Mac2Sell.net, it lists it as worth $450.

The seller listed it as a Craigslist Auction - he asked for bids via email and said he'd pick the highest above $100. This is for my daughter, since I killed her 17" iMac C2D while trying to replace the LCD due to the vertical lines. http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1...sg-1861479

Nice machine and not too hard to get into. Drop a SSD into it and should lay even longer.

Picked up the 20" version of that same model for $200 about 8 months ago -- runs zippy with 10.6.8 and 3 GB of ram.

Nice find for a solid machine. Your daughter will love the extra screen real estate. And I second jdc's suggestion of an SSD.

The only problem with the larger screen is that my son has a 2009 20" iMac and will be jealous that his little sister has a larger computer. I'll have to appease him that 1) his graphics card is faster and 2) the larger screen will not fit on his desk hutch.

Get him the SSD first. =)

My oldest has the 2007 24" model, and the younger one has a 2006 white 20" -- we tell the younger one its cuter.

The 20" 2007 was a road apple... the late 2006 20"/24" iMacs were pretty darn good machines; woulda been better if they could use more RAM. The 24" 2007/'08's are very nice machines. Lucky kids.

Id say all the 20" AL iMacs were road apples cause of the screen. They sucked something bad. Horrible crap screen.
