MH370: Speculation on course by two pilots

I had not seen this speculation of the early part of the MH370 course routing while the airplane was still on radar. Interesting speculation by two pilots, the video embedded in the article has good illustrations.

Not sure if it has been discussed her before, the article was from last April.

what else would cause the plane to do a 180 degree turn and head in the near opposite direction? only human involvement, and if it was not a hijacking, then it was a suicide/murder.

The point of this article has to do with what appears to be an attempt to get a good look at Panang and a series of turns aimed at avoiding the focus of a series of towers.

The point of this article has to do with what appears to be an attempt to get a good look at Panang and a series of turns aimed at avoiding the focus of a series of towers. ....in order to take the plane down.

Sure, that is exactly what it implies...

deliberately hid the plane from radar and flew it thousands of miles off course, before it came down in the ocean.
He says the clues are in the route it took after it vanished from air traffic control. It turned back on itself and flew along the border of Malaysia and Thailand.
"It flew in and out of the countries eight times," he says. "This is probably very accurate flying rather than just a coincidence. As both air traffic controllers in both those countries would probably assume that the aircraft was in the other country's jurisdiction and not pay it any attention."

Without actually knowing what went on in that cockpit, the flying as noted above is puzzling at best and suspicious at worst.

I like to look for innocuous/innocent explanations while some prefer to jump right to conspiracy with little or no evidence of provocation. But so much about this particular incident seems to rule out any and all positive explanations (if you can say there are any) of the disappearance.

As to murder-suicide, why not just crash the plane immediately, why the u-turn, why the bobbing and weaving? Why disable the IFF?

Did the plane have post Sept. 11 security?

I tuned out a lot of this because of the rampant speculation at the time, so I'm admittedly pretty clueless as to the facts of the loss.

My only problem with murder-suicide is there doesn't appear to be any tell tale signs or evidence of any potential causal/mental issues with the pilots.

which is why the explanations that the plane was "purposefully disappeared" seemed (seems) slightly reasonable. with the positive ID of wreckage, it appears the physical plane is/was no more.
