Ryan Adams covers Taylor Swift
#1
Ryan Adams has, in my opinion, been all over the place musically. He's created some of the best and some of the worst music I've ever heard. Now, he's covered an entire Taylor Swift album and, I think, made a pretty good go of it. The original version is pretty good too, but he's done a good job of making the songs his own I think.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/1989/id1040714386

You can also stream the whole thing via spotify if you wish.

I heard about it a few days ago. The DJ at the station I was listening to was really promoting it, saying how RA took the song and made it his own, and how great it was. He then played it and I thought to myself, who is Taylor Swift, or for that matter, Ryan Adams?

I wasn't really impressed by it. :dunno:

Maybe it was better for a younger crowd. Now get off my lawn!

I think he wrote that song Summer of 69.

LOL, you'd be amazed by how many people seriously do conflate Bryan Adams with Ryan Adams.

I have always wondered if anyone would know who Ryan Adams is today if he hadn't been "lucky" enough to record the New York video with the WTC in the background.

Reportedly Ryan is not LOLing-- has walked off the stage when people in the audience have called for "Cuts Like a Knife."

I didn't know who the heck Ryan Adams was either so I did some listening.

I agree with the assessment that he does a nice alternative version of 1989 (overall but I think Style is a miss).

Of the other music of his I heard, nothing really appealed to me. So unfortunately, I have to say he's better at covering someone else's music than doing his own.

I actually like the covers. Some are hits and some are misses though. Style, Bad Blood and Out of the Woods are good ones. Shake it Off and Blank Space missed the mark pretty badly. Overall, not bad.
