There is a tiny stone hut on top of Muir Pass (just under 12000') because the area above the treeline there is vast - it's about a 15mi stretch with absolutely no protection from possible storms. I've talked to a couple of people that had their most terrifying moments of their lives waiting out a lightning storm in this area. One ran for two miles to reach the hut in the middle of the night. Just seeing him tell the story was scary.
Hikers love this little hut. So it was the perfect gathering spot for a little concert. Don't ask me how the cello got there. I've seen people carrying small guitars, ukuleeles & small wind instruments, but a cello?? Love that first song...
