Downton Abbey final episode recap (spoiler)
#21
I found it quite satisfying.

We cut ties with the boilerplate 'and they lived happily ever after' generations ago and have trekked through 'real life'/'authentic'/'grim and gritty' and other variations for so long now that I can appreciate the odd reminder that while it may not happen but once in a blue moon, everything working out is in fact still one of the countless possibilities the fickle finger of fate can land on.

A great series. So long Downton Abbey, and thanks for all the sevruga.

On the other hand, the John Legend/Jimmy Kimmel 'lyrics to the Downton Abbey theme' bit was completely devoid of even the slightest vestige of wit, cleverness, or humor whatsoever. Past the point of being irritating into the territory of wondering how it ever made it out of the writers' room.

Bye the bye, my understanding of events is that while the circumstances of Gregson's disappearance were murky for quite some time, it was eventually confirmed that he was beaten to death after a run in with some early brown shirts/nazis.

Yes? No?

Yes, but a body was never found.
