I'm guessing that anything logged in the same time zone as the destination gets no zone designation and anything occurring in different time zone gets the zone appended to the time in the log list?

Your Amazon list says PDT.
UPS appears to be using UTC.

UPS: 03/15/2016 12:01 P.M. The shipment has been dropped off and is now at The UPS StoreĀ®.

I did drop the package at UPS myself exactly at 12:01 PM EDT Eastern Daylight Savings Time). So the time was 9:01 AM on the West Coast.

Amazon: March 15, 2016 5:01:00 AM PDT Hamilton NJ Package received by carrier

there is no way it was 5 AM on the west coast, like I said, it was 9 AM.

I think Amazon subtracted 4 hours, not sure why...

Because they thought the times they were getting from UPS were in UTC.
