"If you have trouble downloading the portfolio, try using Internet Explorer as your web browser"
#1
Trying to download two files from this site, ; under General Bids, "UALR-16-050 RFQ Architects" and "UALR-16-051 RFQ Engineers". Problem is, every time I click them (and no matter what I choose; direct download, click to view in browser, etc.), I just get a document that advises me to download Adobe Reader (which I have installed).

Note the bolded text, "If you have trouble downloading the portfolio, try using Internet Explorer as your web browser".

< sigh > The struggle continues.

What browser are you using? The advice to use IE is probably because Chrome has a built-in PDF reader and that's what's likely trying to render. That's what happens for me.

On the link, right click and choose Save Link As... or similar.

I just clicked one of the links in Chrome and while it opened a window that gave me the Acrobat spiel, I was able to click the little download icon in the top right corner and it downloaded the PDF.

MAV * I'm using the latest Safari, but had the same issue with Firefox. I get the same resultant Download Adobe Reader bit regardless -- right-click with "Download As..." or just clicking the link.

bazooka * I don't get any download icon; just the document. The only thing that's clickable (either inline or downloaded) is a button that links to the Adobe Reader site.

What kills me about this setup is that I've encountered it before with a few agencies and the resultant document was usually just a paragraph of general information. Nothing that required so much pomp and circumstance.

Well, FWIW it does work in IE on a VM I am running. I can email it to you if you want, send me a PM.

FF had a little alert, 'the PDF might not be rendering properly, would you like to open it in something else?' Click the button and it you get the download dialog box.

So once you download it, when you open it in Acrobat Reader it still tells you to download it? I get that same message in Preview and anything other than Acrobat. But once I open it in Acrobat, it's fine.

Save As works for me on Windows in FF and Chrome. It works as expected ONLY in IE. The Morans saved it as an Adobe Portfolio. Maybe they think being able to open it on a Windows machine is part of the application weeding process (AKA; we don't want any free thinking Mac users applying).

So you don't see this in Chrome?
