S.W.A.T. Reboot Headed to CBS From EPs Shawn Ryan and Justin Lin

....This week in TV reboots, volume 2,587: The 1970s cop show S.W.A.T. is coming back to TV, courtesy of CBS.

The network has given the remake a pilot production commitment with a series penalty, according to our sister site Deadline. (That means CBS will pay studio Sony Pictures TV big bucks if the series doesn’t make it to air.) And the new S.W.A.T. already has some big names attached behind the scenes: The Shield creator Shawn Ryan is an executive producer, along with Fast & Furious director Justin Lin, who may also direct the pilot.

The original S.W.A.T., produced by Aaron Spelling, only ran for two seasons on ABC. But it made enough of a cultural impact that it was remade into a 2003 movie starring Colin Farrell and Samuel L. Jackson. CBS’ new S.W.A.T. will be a procedural centered on an African-American SWAT lieutenant whose loyalties are divided between his fellow cops and the tough streets he grew up on.

Joining Ryan and Lin as executive producers are Neil H. Moritz (Preacher, Fox’s upcoming Prison Break revival) and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas (Sleepy Hollow), who will pen the pilot.

will you S.W.A.T........this fly........?!

Supergirl Season 2: Superman Gets a Warm Welcome in Explosive New Trailer

.....Everybody wants a piece of the Man of Steel.

The CW on Monday released a Superman-centric trailer for Supergirl‘s upcoming second season (Oct. 10, 8/7c), which finds the residents of National City — including Cat, Alex and even Winn — falling all over themselves at the mere sight of Tyler Hoechlin’s caped crusader.

The trailer also offers sneak peeks at several other new characters coming to Supergirl in Season 2, including Lex Luthor’s sister Lena (played by Merlin’s Katie McGrath).
