Waahhh! RNC warriors agree - election IS rigged
#1
Oh, brother:

“I do believe that there are elements that will try to rig the election on varying degrees of scale and this will certainly affect the outcome in varying degrees,” said Peter Goldberg, an RNC committeeman from Alaska.

“It is a grave concern on a number of fronts,” said Arizona RNC Committeewoman Lori Klein Corbin....Corbin said she agreed with Trump’s warning earlier this month that Democrats may be intentionally allowing undocumented immigrants into the country to vote in the election – though they are no substantiated claims that this is occurring. “This is happening all over the U.S. and we don't even know how many illegals are here presently that will take advantage of these loopholes,” she said.

Other GOPers point out that most of the battleground states have Republican Secretaries of State overseeing the lection process. And a few call the whole concern BS.

However:

One thing most RNC members could agree on was their belief that the national media are in league with Democrats in attempting to manipulate voters.

“It depends on what you mean by ‘rigged.’ Our nominee is experiencing an unprecedented onslaught by most of the media in the country,” said Miriam Hellreich, an RNC committeewoman from Hawaii. “Fox News seems to be the only news outlet reporting on the cloud of deception, distraction and disregard for the truth when it comes to Hillary Clinton's record and her fitness for the Presidency.”

...which is all they ever watch anyway. In any case, here's the troubling bottom line:

Should Hillary get ‘elected’ she is immediately delegitimized,” said California RNC Committeeman Shawn Steel in an email. “The 1% of Wall Street Bankers, Clinton Machine and [mainstream media] including your employer, Politico, is part of a massive Left Wing Conspiracy to rig this election.”

Elections ARE being rigged. To deny poor urban voters the right to vote. Or threaten them that if they vote they will be put in jail. One of those arrogant billboards was right outside my office in 2014. Bastiches.

All the 'vote the graveyard' references are back to the bad old political machine days of the 1930's through 1960's. That crap has been stopped many decades ago. Most of the people who benefited from that sort of nonsense are long dead.

I had to chuckle the other day that "Google searches are being skewed against Trump." (Yeah, there are hardly any stories about Hillary Clinton assaulting women...)

Not quite the same, but my Google news page always seems to be full of links to Faux News, Breitbart - today even Townhall and WorldNutDaily (!).

No one else uses this computer to my knowledge. Why Google includes such sites in their "news" page is beyond me. I wouldn't consider a one of them a legitimate news source, and I certainly don't click on them.

Maybe if the Republicans had nominated a guy who wasn't batshit crazy, the news media would have been a little more even-handed. As it is, even the most balanced journalist has a hard time treating them equally. Trump has more in common with Gary Busey that Mitt Romney.

Politifact rates Trump's claim of voter fraud.

See if you can guess its conclusion. Let me just say the fire department has been called to put out the smoldering pile of fabric ash that used to cover his backside.

These charges do not reflect reality.

News 21, a national investigative reporting project funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, found 150 alleged cases of double voting, 56 cases of noncitizens voting, and 10 cases of voter impersonation across all elections from 2000 to 2011. Many of these allegations never led to charges, while others were acquitted or dismissed.

Justin Levitt, a professor at Loyola Law School and an expert on voter fraud, found an even smaller number: 31 credible incidents out of more than 1 billion votes cast from 2000 to 2014.

Put it in another way: More people are struck by lightning or attacked by sharks than are accused of voter fraud.

No doubt our orange-skinned friend will be chastened by these facts and hasten to apologize and amend his rhetoric.

Interesting point since it seems the party you adhere to would be the party that seems to want to limit the number of citizens who will be allowed to vote.

Can't have it both ways Crusty, you're still a Republican and support those efforts, or you're not. Which is it?
