Verizon Wireless—Works with Mac?
#1
I'm thinking of getting Verizon Wireless Broadband service.

(1) Will it work on a Mac? The website specifies only PC OSes.

(2) All they offer is a PC Card. That will work in my TiBook (667 DVI, OS 10.4), but I'm hoping to get a MacBook Pro, which has an ExpressCard/34. What then?

Any advice welcome.

REVIEW: Verizon Wireless ExpressCard/34 Wireless Broadband Solution

http://www.barefeats.com/mbcd5.html

"As many of you know, we've been using CardBus versions of the wireless broadband in our PowerBooks since early 2005. But when we bought the MacBook Pro for the lab back in March 2006, it had an ExpressCard/34 slot but no cellular company had an ExpressCard broadband wireless PC card available. That's changed. As of August 2006, the Novatel V640 ExpressCard/34 became available through Verizon Wireless. (Neither Sprint nor Cingular have an ExpressCard wireless broadband solution as of this posting.)"

www.evdoinfo.com.

They sell all the various devices for Sprint and VZW, and do technical support.

You might want to check out Sprint for EV-DO. Thay actually have a larger coverage area, and are upgrading to EV-DO Rev. A as we speak, VZW has not yet announced coherent plans to do so.
