Just got this in. An early 50s Lord Elgin Clubman with the not often seen black dial.

All of your watches argood looking. But that one is particularly classy. I also love the thinness of it. So much these days watches are self defense weapons. I hate that.

Today's watches, unless you are a big guy, are too big, especially the fashion watches.

Anything larger than 41mm, just seems too large for me, especially since dipping my toes into the vintage watch market.

Back then, it was a race between the watchmakers to make their movements thin, and thus their watches as well. For the women, Elgin advertised their watches as being able to fit through a wedding band. The ladies back then must have had great eyesight to even see the time : )
