Amazon "one day shipping" stretching beyond three
#1
On Monday, while we're on vacay, my wife remembers she's invited to a baby shower on Thursday. So we get on Amazon and find something (around $50). We're Prime members, but we spring for an extra $7 for one-day shipping. And it's still not here.

Yeah, I know, this happens, but what gets me is that, per tracking, they managed to get the product to a nearby suburb within 24 hours of order. And then it sat. Next day it went to another nearby suburb. And sat. Tracking said it was guaranteed to be delivered by 8PM yesterday. No luck.

Called today to see if I could drive to them and pick it up. Nope- it's on the truck and out for delivery. That was this morning, and we still don't have it.

Wife has gone out and bought a "place-keeper" gift for the party. I'm thinking we ought to at least get our $7 back. Does that sound reasonable?

I think they said that. Tracking says "Carrier: AMZL US".

Once it's delivered, it'll just take a quick online chat with customer service to get your $7 shipping back (and maybe a 1 month extension of your prime membership if you ask).

I always call at nine if something hasn't arrived by eight. First time I got a refund on the item which showed up later that night. Second time I got a one-month extension on Prime, and that item showed up the next day. I rarely have problems with Amazon but when I do I jump on the phone.

Did just that, and got the shipping refund and the free month.

Honestly, though, I'm not sure anymore that Prime is worth it. We don't use the videos and such, and pay full price ($80 or more a year?). I'd cancel if it wasn't for the fact that my whole family uses it.

AMZ's new homegrown carrier network is very sketchy. It's a bunch of Uber driver types who have little experience with delivery and are playing fast and loose with the guidelines.
Just last month I had a packaged marked "delivered" at 6pm. It wasn't there. It arrived the next morning.

No kidding. We don't have Amazon Delivery yet, but I had a USPS Sunday delivery by some plain clothes guy in a regular car, I'm like Who The Fark is this.

Yeah, the USPS Sunday deliveries are being done by temps and part time USPS employees. At least they go through some background checks by the Postal Service before being hired. Most are looking to get a permanent position with the Postal Service, just waiting of an opening.
