Amazon search strategies?
#1
I have had it with searching for things on amazon. Example: I search for "bass guitar cabinet". The first result is a weird night gown, second, a quarter inch jack, etc. The options for filters provide absolutely nothing useful. I find a bass cab, look at the directory in the listing and go there and half what was available is now gone, and you can only filter based on "gallien krueger" or "orange". I used to be able to search the whole thing based on "more than 70% off" and sometimes find stuff that was radically discounted, etc. Now, it makes no sense at all. They apparently want you to buy a certain something, or sit all day sifting through junk. Do any of you have advanced methods you're willing to share?

P.S. I can search for days and continue finding new things. I did that with a recent purchase (external battery/power bank) and finally just bought the one amazon wants you to buy (anker).

My only technique is if I don't see it in the first page or two, I add or subtract a term.

Their search engine is so bad I don't use it.

Instead, I search for what I want with Google, and use those search results to get links back to Amazon.

I got lots of hits with "bass speaker cabinet." I check "see other items like this" or something similar when I find something close to what I want.

I complained about their search results every week for six months and gave up. Google isn't much better because it doesn't even remotely follow Amazon categories. camelcamelcamel can sometimes do better but they have limited access to partners/storefronts.

I use Duck-Duck-Go for the search, then open the link in a private browser so it doesn't show up in my Amz 'recents'.

You can either copy the product URL or just the ASIN for purchasing.
Shame bezos' code bozos can't come up with a decent search engine.

You can search for the exact item's name copied and pasted from the manufacturer's web site, and STILL not find it.
