Weird 10.11.6 issue

I can select and tag any number of items in the Finder with a color(s), but if I want to remove the tags from multiple items I can only choose up to 10 at a time. If I select 11 or more, then it doesn't recognize that the tags are there. Anyone else able to reproduce this issue?

There seem to be several "weird" issues or changes with El Capitan. I still have Snow Leopard on an old iMac and it looks and acts so much better. Maybe I'm just used to it, but I don't like the new flat look of OS X.

How are you tagging them?
I just did/undid tags on 30 files via Command+Option+i and via Select-All followed by Control+Click. ... Probably not relevant, but I had a client with a problem tagging files on a SMB server awhile back. Turned out that the special characters in some file names screwed it up. Connecting via AFP fixed it and ultimately A Better Finder Rename provided the long-term fix.
