New iPod "feature" or is my 5.5G screwed up?
#1
Got around to opening up my new 80GB iPod. While it was syncing the backlight did not turn off as it did with my previous iPods and does with my nano. Is this normal for the 5.5Gs? If not is there a fix? It it is is there a way to set it to turn off while syncing. (And yes, the backlight menu setting is set to 10 seconds.)

All the while it's connected or just the few seconds that it's actually syncing?

All while it's synching. Too a couple hours to fill up my 80GB iPod the light stayed on the entire time until I "ejected" it. Anytime I dock it the light goes on and stays on until I "eject."

That isn't right. I'd try hitting the "reset all settings" on the ipod. Then if that didn't work, I'd reset the iPod altogether and maybe re-install the software updates (not sure how I'd do that).

I believe that's a feature. The new 'Pods are supposed to be able to display the Album Artwork, if you so desire, when plugged into the Apple Hi-Fi.

I wish I had this feature on my 60G photo. It's handy, especially when listening to enhanced podcasts. But it would be nice if it was on only when docked and in the Play mode, otherwise timing out.

That is a new feature.

My 5.0G 30GB iPod Video now leaves the backlight on the lowest level whenever it is plugged into the computer (and the computer is on).

Before the latest firmware the screen was dark after a few seconds.

My 5.0G 30GB iPod Video does not leave the backlight on the lowest level when plugged in. I can touch the click wheel and it comes back on. I don't see how that could be non-configurable feature. I'm using software version 1.2 on a new iMac.

I can see how it's a feature for a quick sync but is there an option to disable? Kind of annoying if you leave your dock just to charge.

Ditto. Until I eject it from iTunes the screen is very dim, but not fully off. Same iPod.
