A contingent of about 30 white nationalists is marching down a Washington street toward the White House surrounded by a protective bubble of police officers and vehicles.

Hundreds of counterprotesters are walking alongside the group but keeping on the sidewalks, many of them shouting and taunting the nationalists as they make their way to a park in front of the White House.

Doesn't seem to be going well for Jason Kessler and his merry band of bigots. Maybe this is the last year we have to have this event? That'd be nice.

4:33 p.m.

Counter-protesters have formed a unified line against the barricade separating them from the white nationalist rally, shouting “Go home, Nazis” and “Black Lives Matter.”

They are directly facing the lines of police between them and the white nationalist protest, jeering and waving signs. One man blew into a tuba every few minutes.

“F---k you, Nazis!” one group chants as another cohort breaks into song.

On the other side of the park, a man is espousing racist views to a small of people that is mainly comprised of members of the press.

Problem is that the take-away is not that Nazis and Klan are retreating in the face of reason.

Rather, they just don't like Jason Kessler.

I would have been fine seeing them have a little less publicity which is really all they want.

Exactly. They love the attention, because without that they don't exist. I bet they look for their faces on the tv and in print like little kids the next day.

They are also being driven back into the shadows. Active participants are being doxxed and losing their jobs.
