Back from week Up North
#1
We did our yearly kayak trip late this year because my wife and I did our Out West trip in July when we usually do our kayak trip. I am scrambling right now to catch up from last week and to attend a baby shower today and, and, and...

Here are three quick pix of some things that occurred along with hanging out on the kayaks. First, we had one clear night after the the storms came thru bringing the cold front and I got this image of the M31 galaxy in Andromeda:

Then we did the shipwreck tour in Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary at Alpena, MI:

And the highlight of the trip was the birth of a boatload of Snapping turtles all over our property. We assisted the little 'un's as they were underfoot! Will explain later, but here's one struggling out of it's shell, climbing out of the hole, and seeing these big, ugly, shell-less things looking at them:

Sorry for the quality of the turtle pic. Rushing thru these right now...

Are snapping turtles native to where you live, or are they an invasive species like in California?
