Constant Bad Certificate notice - fw.adsafeprotected.com
#1
I continually get a bad certificate popup notices for fw.adsafeprotected.com.
I've run Etrecheck and Malwarebytes, nothing found. Googled for answers without any real success

I'm not even sure what adsafeprotected is.

Suggestions?

Please provide some more context.

Are you running a web browser when you are getting this popup notice?
If so, does it happen for some web pages and not others?

Until a few months ago I used to get bad (or was it expired?) certificates from slickdeals. I think it fact it was one of the ad servers that served slickdeals. Curiously it happened only in one browser, I think it was Safari but could have been Firefox. Then it just didn't happen anymore, now that you mention it. I forgot about it.

Safari 10.1.2 on OSX 10.10.5

No rhyme or reason that I've noticed for when it pops up, but I have noticed it on news pages quite often (which tend to have lots of ads FWIW)

I'm on Chrome, Version 68.0.3440.106 (Official Build) (64-bit), and in the address bar, showing forums.macresource.com, is displaying Not Secure and has for as long as I can remember...

I'm not using Chrome, it doesn't show as an extension in Safari, Mlwarebytes does register it. I don't see a cookie for it in Safari either.

If you haven't, try using EasyFind to search your system.

It finds things the Finder won't (like the Finder used to do), or nearly as easily, and EasyFind easily lets you turn invisible files' invisibility on and off.
