Yes, economists dislike and distrust trade wars because they're always an obvious artificial impediment to natural market forces. Quaint notions like "what's a thing worth" and "which one is better" don't stand a chance.

The reporting is accurate. And I realize they "answered" the question re: Who holds the power but that's overly broad, since it implies there will be an overall "winner" which is yet another debatable issue.

He did mention the ultimate losers, consumers. And whenever that's the case, "winners" are always someone else. Hmm.

Good thing this isn't a "political" topic LOL. It's just a thing that magically happened in a vacuum, I guess. It'll probably go away similarly.

I can't tell you who holds the power but I can tell you who is on the losing end. My company and my suppliers. We're getting nailed by horrific price increases and difficult availability of raw materials because of the tariffs. As far as I'm concerned, it's a war between the US and China that _both_ countries are going to lose and one or more other countries are going to rake in the bucks and business as a result.
