ELECJET's MagJet: another MagSafe replacement candidate
#1
This may have been mentioned before, as I haven't followed the category closely.

But this looks interesting enough that I might give it a go, unless someone points out a glaring problem that would affect me.

Unlike many other similar solutions on the market, the Magjet magnetic charging cable fully supports 87W fast charging allowing you to charge any of the latest 2018 USB-C MacBook models at full speed.

The Magjet cable might be much more affordable than other products on the market, but that doesn’t mean that it cuts any corners on quality. You’ll find an aluminium alloy shell & 24K gold plated connectors, and that means the cable will be extremely durable, wear resistant & long lasting compared to cables that use cheaper materials.

That reads more like ad copy than a review. But the device is appealing.

Get the Magjet magnetic USB-C charging cable 10% off on Amazon w/ code 109to5Mac $21.50 w/ free shipping

With limited info, I'd still say it's a better gamble than a $45 2T SSD. (Sorry.)

Oh ye of little faith...

When those LaCie SSDs start flying out the warehouse, the hand will be on the other foot.

I think the MagSafe might be one of Apple's greatest hits, but I know there are people who can't stand it. https://twitter.com/Ihnatko/status/921237706130071552

I've got one that looks exactly like that.

Lucky if it connects successfully to pull 45w from an 87w charger. Rarely, I might get 60w.

I'm on the fence about trying one of these as they're kind of expensive:

With the MacBook Airs we lend at the library I am continually needing to remove some small piece of grit stuck in the MagSafe port. Doesn't take much to keep one from charging, and most users do not notice or are unable to get the port cleaned.

A pain in the neck, but not as much a problem as case damage on the Dell laptops that get pulled off a desk by their power cords.

Agreed.

I miss it, and wish it was incorporated with the new connections.

The MagJet is tempting.

After reading the reviews at amazon, I think I'll pass.

I'll pay a little more attention as devices surface, as I'd really like to add a MagSafe type connector.

I'm using one like this by the OP right now on this 2018 MBP13. Works fine.
